AS FAR SA I AM CONCERNED, IT IS A FACT, not theory. Nice guys always finish last. Always.
I’ve tried to live my life without leading anybody on, without hurting anybody, always making my intentions clear. If all I’m interested in is a one-night stand, then I make that known. No lies, no games, no complications.
Unfortunately, after years of my experiences and watching those of others, the only conclusion I can come to is that women WANT to be lied to. They want to be conned. They want to be offered the world and get nothing in return but a “slam, bam, thank you ma’am”. Of course I could be wrong, but somehow I doubt it. I look around at my friends. Almost to a man, they lie, cheat and connive and their success with the fairer sex is something to behold. Here is the odd the – the women know. They know they are being lied to, they know there is somebody else, but the facts apparently only serve to spur them on. She want to be the one who gets the guy to settle down; to get the guy to forsake all others and settle down – with her, of course. How completely, utterly, stupid.
No matter how women say they want a guy who is sensitive and honest, they lie – a generalization I know, but one that applies to a very large number of the weaker sex. They want the challenge, they want to win some amorphous challenge which will give them bragging rights in the unspoken and unspeaking world of competition in which women conduct their affairs of love and lust. Deny all you want ladies, you know it’s true.
What I never quite understood is why! From whence does this sadomasochism derive itself? Apparently being loved for who you are is not enough, there has to be some element of pain, emotional or otherwise. A degree of uncertainty which keeps the game interesting, the need to lie awake at night and wonder ‘Does he love me?’ or ‘Is there anyone else?’ So much for a need for security.
I will admit that I find it amazing. I look around and see women getting engaged to one person while being in love with another. I see women who proclaim not to be in the least bit interested in a man, yet do not seem able to leave him alone. Heck I see women running hell-bent head first into brick wall in the pursuit of dreams which can only bring them pain. How utterly amazing and utterly stupid of us all, those who chase or are chased. I am convinced that God has one hell of a sense of humor. He must have, to create two genders cross-wired the way we are. He probably looks down and has a chuckle at our antics ever now and then, and why not? We have men chasing women who are apparently holding out for men who have nothing to offer but pain, confusion and despair, and better yet, we appear to like it.
So what choice do the men of the world have? Well, if you are lucky, you will find the woman of your dreams and settle down and have a nice life, but I would not bet on it. The better idea seems to become a complete and utter bastard, and sit back and enjoy the spoils. Sounds wrong, but if you have a better idea, I’m all ears.
After all, nice guys finish last, and none of us want that, do we?
