"We're sorry you have too many open friend requests"
Why did hi5 implement this now? Exactly as Ricardo said above, there was once an option to see outgoing friend requests, but now there is nothing we can do. Just sit back, or wait till next month or so to see if we are now available to send friend requests again? If this is an attempt to stop spammers, I say it is a very poor attempt. The spammers on hi5 no longer are those with the highest number of friends, (only a small minority). They make like 100 fake profiles and have very little friends, and spam our groups with pornography. Why is hi5 wasting time limiting our freedom to add more new friends, while there are so many other more important tasks to be addressed. I had only logged on today when I saw some girls on my homepage who I wanted to add, then boom! "We're sorry you have too many open friend requests" So now I must miss out on probably ever adding them again... :( I hope this seriously isn't a new rule hi5 just put in. I hope it was a glitch. Can Lou or Anil or anyone tell us what are we supposed to do? Just wait? or are you bringing back "Outgoing friend requests"? And what do you plan on acheiving by limiting us like this? I saw a while ago someone from the team saying that the "Outgoing friend requests" list was due to return really soon, any news?

I hope that is true.
At least I'll know how long I'll need to wait... Cause at this rate, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to add anyone soon cause of the number of requests I sent. Probably not this month, I'm not even sure this year... -_-" Plus allot of people I have added seems to be inactive users who don't use hi5 anymore. If that number alone crosses that limit, then I'm stuck forever -_-" Did I mention that the "hi5 will expire friend requests automatically after 60 days" does not work? I have a request since 'Jan 12 2007', Hence why I'm making this commotion... I'm stuck :P Posted by AAAツAndrewツ©®™ Davis

Hey folks, thanks for your feedback. The cap on outgoing friend requests was a measure I re-introduced a few days back as a way to fight one form of spam and is one I will be iterating on for a while. This type of feedback will be very helpful as I continue to tune limits on outgoing friend request volume and frequency.
Andrew, you are absolutely correct -- there is a significant amount of spam related to account creation, group posts, comments, and messages. Unfortunately, I think your assessment that those represent a more significant volume of spam than friend requests is a bit off. What is not immediately visible on those fake profiles with low numbers of friends that you mention is a very recognizable pattern of orders of magnitude more outgoing friend requests than friends or incoming friend requests. Ricardo and Sara, I'm still working on the outgoing friend request list and will post an update when I have a better idea of when I can release it. Hope that answers your questions, -Amit Posted by Amit

Thanks for the answer Amit.
I guess it will be one way of limiting spam a bit. I was wondering though, Once you've reached the limit, Is it possible to delete the outgoing requests and send new ones? I hope this is so, like it was long ago. But then... the spammers can also do the same. Not sure how that will work out. One more Important thing though!! After having been blocked all day, I've finally realized a new hi5 link that I've never seen before. -------------------------------------------------- We're sorry you have too many open friend requests Connect with User Send Message Add a Profile Comment Bookmark User* Give 'em Five -------------------------------------------------- The "Bookmark User" option, Did you guys just add that? I've never noticed it before. It follows the link: http://www.hi5.com/friend/addBookmark.do?userid=######## But either way, it doesn't work... I wouldn't mind 'Bookmarking' people for a little while till you get the 'Outgoing Requests' fixed. But the option never works. I always get the error page: -------------------------------------------------------- Oops! We were unable to fulfill your request. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we experienced an error fulfilling your request. Go back to Home or click on the Back button of your browser to go back to the page you came from. -------------------------------------------------------- I hope this is fixed soon. Bookmarks were actually re-branded on the site as favorites over a year ago. Looks like we just missed the text on the page indicating that you have too many out going friend requests. The feature is the same though.
I'll look into why the link on that page isn't working for you. Does the "Add to Favorites" button on other people's profiles work for you? -Amit Posted by Amit

Well Amit if the user has their profile set to be only visible by their friends then there's no way to add them to the Favorites! So your stuck: can't add them to your friends nor to your favorites!

Actually, surprisingly the "Add to Favorites" link is giving me the same problem.
I'm surprised, because favorites always used to work for me before. After numerous tries just now, I finally got to add only one of my friends to my Favorites list. All the others gave me the same error page: -------------------------------------------------------- Oops! We were unable to fulfill your request. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we experienced an error fulfilling your request. Go back to Home or click on the Back button of your browser to go back to the page you came from. -------------------------------------------------------- I thinks a new section for "Bookmarking Users" should be made, and not bunch them in with the favorites. Or, at least make the Favorites page smaller and neater, for example, simply taking out the "Interests" section in the favorites will help allot! Some people have videos and tons of images in their 'Interests' section. This makes my Favorites page take very long to load, so I don't really go on my favorites anymore.
