2. Used to be 20, but changing to 10 was a necessary performance improvement because we were already caching a list of 10 for the front page, this helped considerably and we need to keep it in the short-term at least

3. Go to end is expensive and generally not that useful of a functionality for large lists. we're moving away from this in general. check some other very high volume sites, i think you'll see it's a common practice.
